Sydney Walton

Former President

Sydney completed his undergraduate degree at SFU in Cognitive Science and Learning and Developmental Disabilities. Currently, he is pursuing his master’s in speech-language pathology at UBC and is interested in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and language development. His focus is on speech and communication development in children with autism due to his years of working in special education. 

Rachel Wang

Former Vice-President

Rachel completed her undergraduate studies in linguistics and psychology at SFU and proceeded to pursue her master’s in audiology at UBC. She has a special interest in amplification technology and hopes to work with adults in a private practice setting one day. During her time with the Speech and Hearing Club, Rachel was excited to learn more about what speech and hearing professionals do on a daily basis and to meet other students who were also interested in communication disorders.

Crystal Su

Former Treasurer

Crystal is a 2020 grad of SFU’s Linguistics program and Early Learning (Education) program. She also holds a certificate in Speech Sciences. She is passionate about communicative disorders in children and is an advocate for childhood literacy. Crystal served as the Treasurer of the Speech and Hearing Club for two semesters and is excited about the work that this club has done for prospective SLP and Audiology students. Post-grad, she is gaining more experience in the TEFL field and plans to work with children of all ethnicities and economic statuses. She thanks the professors at SFU for their passion and knowledge of the field, as well as opening up opportunities for her to pursue her love of working with children.

Larissa Melville

Former President and Founder

Larissa was the President and founder of the Speech and Hearing Club. Her interest is in the neurolinguistics of aphasia, with focus on language recovery. Larissa is now a graduate student pursuing her Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology; she graduated from SFU first class with distinction with a BA in Cognitive Science and Linguistics.

Jasmine Piao

Former Secretary

Jasmine served as secretary for the Speech and Hearing Club. With her undergraduate experience in Linguistics, Psychology, and Education, Jasmine is passionate about supporting children in reading and language development.

Samantha Sundby

Former Forum and Communications Officer

Samantha was the Forum and Communications Officer for the Speech and Hearing Club for 5 semesters. In that time, she enjoyed making connections with students, professionals in the field, and the executive team. With her undergraduate experience in Linguistics, Psychology, and Speech Sciences, she aspires to complete a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology.

Kira Bondi

Former Vice President and President

Kira was Vice President and President of the Speech and Hearing Club. She graduated with a BA in linguistics with an interest in Speech and Language Pathology. Kira currently works with autistic children in a private clinic where she is learning so much about Speech-Language Pathology and the practical applications of psychology and Linguistics. She is also interested in learning ASL and working with the d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

Teneille Williams

Former Treasurer

Teneille was the treasurer of the Speech and Hearing Club. She graduated with a Linguistics Major and Psychology Minor at SFU. She enjoys hobbies such as bullet journalling, card making and beading. Her interest is in Speech and Language Pathology and she hopes to work with children in schools or with TBI patients.
